Progs: Lovers of the Fake

Dear readers, have you ever seen so much FAKE? It is breathtaking in its all encompassing nature. The Fakeness is almost everywhere you care to look.

None of this is new to my five or six faithful readers. They know about the scourge of the Fake. The progs revel in it; in fact, the Fake is essential to the whole prog weltanschauung.  As the Beatles would say, "Nothing is real." Well, a couple are, and we'll mention them at the end.

First, let's do a casual walk through the Fake fields of progressivism and examine some of its most prominent fruits.

So hard to pick just a few, there are so many.

In no particular order:

Hate crimes: Almost non-existent in the real America, but not in the Hollywood version that runs through the heads of the typical progs. Nooses on black profs office doors? "N-word" written on dorm doors? Hijabs ripped off innocent girls by nasty white men? Racist notes left black wait staff by nasty white men? So many more of this variety of fake fruit . . . don't get too full on just this one, we got lots more;

Climate change: A biggie this one. So much to gorge on. Weather is not climate, except when it is! It's man-made permanent winter; it's man-made permanent summer; it's man-made drought; it's man-made flooding; it's man-made dearth of hurricanes; no, no it's more hurricanes than ever! No snow! More snow! Fewer sharks! More sharks! Pant. Pant. Please, please go on without me . . .

We now run into fake fruits one after another, too fast to categorize.

Putin-Trump collusion!

Army purging immigrants!

Migrant children ripped away from their "parents"!

Universities are rape farms! Must suspend due process!

The progs love fake NATO! The progs love fake health insurance! Fake borders! "Undocumented" migrants need a pathway to citizenship so they can vote! Citizenship should not be required to vote! Progs love fake African-Americans and fake Native Americans! The progs decree that "hispanics" are a race, except when they do something progs don't like then they are "white hispanics"! Let's have fake women! Let's have fake science say there are no genders! No, no let's have fake science say that there are millions of genders and that we can each choose one! Let's have fake trade deals that wipe out whole chunks of the American working and middle class, all in the name of Gaia and the poor!

Above all, let's have outrage 24/7/365!

A couple of things are not fake, however. The progs love power. All of these fake "crises" and "issues" require intervention by the state to resolve. Guess who controls most of the levers of state power? One guess. As I have written before about progressives and their "targets,"
The idea is to create turmoil, chaos; keep society and its institutions reeling from one punch to the next. The only solution to this turmoil? Why, naturally, more progressive government and regulation.
The other thing that is not fake is the hatred for Donald Trump. He's not fake. In fact, he relishes identifying the progs fakeness. He knows that as they now stand NATO, NAFTA, the EU, the Paris Climate Change Treaty, and the Iran Deal are all fake institutions and agreements meant to cover up the prog drive for power, the drive to disrupt the real world. Trump has the guts to say so. Unforgivable in prog world!

      There is a big difference.
      One Brow,
What you wish is that people of good will not know another one when they see one. That they do not associate because you know that assocation of good people will be the ruination of ignorance and hatred.

Dwan, how kind of you to tell me what I wish. It's all the more impressive because I do not recall ever suggesting that the people on this site do not associate. I am curious how you divined that was my wish. Also, could you explain how can know a person of "good will" under the limited information available that occurs "when they see one"? Whatever could those visible indicators be?

      Dwan Seicheine,

Actually, I avoided saying what you are or what you felt; I only spoke of how your words, and the words on this site generally, appear to those who do not share your view.

So, would you now be so kind as to explain how you can know a person of "good will" under the limited information available that occurs "when they see one"? Whatever could those visible indicators be?

  3. Perhaps only a President as personally odious as Trump would be capable of blurting out all the uncomfortable truths to which he subjects the world. It's pretty invigorating. Of course some of his truths are pretty approximate - accuracy is not one of his virtues. But it's better to be roughly right than exactly wrong.

By the way, where's the ruddy wall he promised? And why isn't Hillary in prison?

    3. If Trump were actually the thoughtless wrecking-ball that the FakeNews describes, he would've done just as you suggest: he'd have fired everyone in virtually every department of goverment, and had Hillary locked up in prison where she belongs. Of course he'd have immediately been impeached and removed from office, but Trump's far too idiotic to think of such things, right?

Luckily for us, he's not that person. He carefully plans his moves, and he doesn't declare war until that war is already won; he's a student of Sun Tzu.

Wasn't it instructive to see Agent Strzok testifying in public? Isn't that man the very model of the perfect FBI agent? Why, he's so high above us mere mortals, he can harbor absolute hatred and loathing in his heart, but in his actions he's perfectly unbiased! We all could see just how unbiased he is, and how much humility he has. Those that said they saw demon's horns on him are obviously lying; why, he's a perfect angel. Just ask him, he'll tell you!

First President Trump is exposing the rot; after everyone knows how bad it is, then he'll present the design for a new structure, better than that before; finally comes the wrecking-ball and the exterminators, to remove the old diseased structure and the rats that infest it, so that building may commence on a solid foundation.

I too am impatient, but I also realize that Rome wasn't built in a day, and that decades of abuse aren't instantly overcome. The river has to be diverted to clean these Augean stables, and that takes a while!

  6. Donald Trump plans to give the U.S. to Russia during their summit.

There, it's finally been outright said. MSM has been hyperventilating about this summit. CNN's Brian Selzer says Trump can't be trusted alone with Putin. NBC's Andrea Mitchell says this is the first time a Soviet spymaster is meeting a president who spent the weekend playing golf. Hillary wants to know which team Trump will be playing for in his meeting. And dozens of pundits have sniffed that he played golf instead of preparing, he doesn't know the issues, the history, he isn't ready, (will never be ready).

So let's write the post-summit headline and give them their story, plus help out poor Robert Mueller, who is having a terrible time producing anything newsworthy:

    TRUMP GIVES U.S. TO RUSSIA

This may seem far-fetched but it is exactly what the French, Dutch and British governments did to themselves with respect to the EU. Besides, we know the commentariat is ready to believe this story and it's what MSM wants to go with. Well, they've seen it here, so now they have a source and they can run with it!

    1. U.S.—Demonstrating just how bad modern life has gotten, surveys now show that the average American today complains more in a week than people living during the black plague complained throughout their entire 30-year life span.

“There’s just so much more going wrong now,” said Karen Maxwell, a college student. “Things were just much simpler during the Black Death. All they had to deal with was squalor, starvation, and the constant threat of disease. Nowadays we have microaggressions, student debt, gluten, unequal pay for women, GMOs, problematic things like Scarlett Johansson playing a transgender man. The list just goes on and on. So it’s no wonder we complain more.”

“It just makes sense,” she added before going back to using her smartphone, a device that would have seemed like dark magic to people living just a hundred years ago.

I understand the moral/philosophical point of article. Who wouldn't? BUT did anyone actually do lifetime surveys of people during the time of the Black Plague? The claim is intuitively true: we are very spoiled. But the claim of 30-year surveys of individuals during the time of the Black Plague is cleary bogus. I wonder why authors put that in an otherwise interesting article.

You are confused. Bill sold the port of Los Angeles to the Chinese for "contributions to his library." Hillary sold 20% of our uranium capacity to Russia plus an unknown number of secrets to an unknown number of countries. But neither Clinton quite handed over a deed to the whole country. I mean think about it. If they had done that, what would Trump have had to collude about and why would the CIA and FBI had to spy on him and investigate him and then why would there have had to be a special counsel who apparently needs forever to investigate? Is that clear?

Yes, they are growing grapes again in Scotland. Since the Thames never froze over two years in a row, and the last time was a few years before the start of the Industrial Revolution, I'm confused how you think that is an argument against climate change.

However, I'm not at all confused how you think weather changes on a smallish island are supposed to be the same thing as global climate change.

      Geroge W. Potts,

Please go on about how Integral Calculus and Limit Theory show that any efforts to measure historical temperatures are meaningless.

    6. To accurately find the area under a curve, you need to find the area of infinitely small slices and add them up. To find the temperature of the Earth, you need to integrate an infinite number of temperatures. For example, when the weather person gives you the local temp it is usually at the airport ... even though temps may vary by 5 or more degrees locally. Now, expand that thought to the entire world for an entire year. See?

I understand how integrals work. I also understand how averages and smoothing functions work, how statistical error bars work, etc. If you made an argument about error bar size and the historical temperature record, that would be something relevant to the discussion, and we could honestly disagree on the relevance of the error bars. Integral Calculus and Limits are not relevant tot he discussion.

I am a commenter at the Union Democrat. As soon as I read about what happened I sent an email to the editor with my real name and phone number.
The Union Democrat is one of only TWO papers that, not just took down the piece but explained why.
My paper leans to the left but at least tries to give equal space to both sides and the middle.
What distresses me is that I had to give up my anonymity (the only right thing to do in the circumstances) to give the paper a chance to make sure this never happens again.
I also not that the piece said almost word for word what Hillary said on the same day at almost the exact same time these 21 astroturfs went out.
This infuriates me; that the informed innocent citizen has to give up their privacy to stop these people of ill will.

Fake News does not matter, because almost no-one is listening. Try this experiment the next time you are waiting aimlessly in an airport for your delayed flight. Observe the locations of all the monitors blasting CNN to their captive audience. And then count the number of people who appear to be paying any attention to the CNN monitors. And then reflect on the thought that, based on the last election, approximately 1/3 of the people in the airport voted Democrat in the last election. Even Democrat voters have mostly given up on the news. And that is good!

  13. Tues morning

I predicted headlines from Helsinki -TRUMP GIVES U.S.TO RUSSIA - incorrectly. That was only a secondary news theme from the summit. Actual headline, imo, turned out to be: TRUMP TREASON APPARENT AS HE PLEDGES HIS LOVE TO PUTIN.

The treason part was that he refused to accuse Putin of lying about meddling in our elections as Putin was standing next to him at the press conference. (He had raised issue in their meeting.) Press was insistent on making things awkward for Trump. A reporter cited our intel agencies and their conclusion that the Russians have meddled and asked Trump whether he believed Putin over our intel agencies, Trump refused to directly accuse Putin. Now, we can all recall the ten million times various critics have said Trump cannot be diplomatic. So, here is Trump trying to be diplomatic and it's treason!

Why love? Well, during the campaign Trump said Putin was a great leader because he made himself a world leader. Told by the reporter Putin had said something complimentary about him, Trump said, "That's nice ," without trashing Putin. Trump campaigned on better relations with Russia. Last week Putin publicly admitted he hoped Trump would win election because of his platform of better relations with Russia. There, clearly a bromance between the two.

The NYT speaks for the whole press with an homoerotic animation. nyti.ms/2uqaTRC England's Daily Mirror's front page has a huge headline: "Putin's Poodle" and a smaller one: "Trump branded a traitor"

Personally I thought I heard two world leaders trying to make sure their countries weren't blundering into war and finding areas where they had common interests and could cooperate, and making some agreements on areas where their interests conflict/collide, again, so no one blunders into war. A terrific first meeting, imo - but what do I know?
