Lost in Translation, Right Might Not Mean Right

I have written before about how the left sees words as important and tries to redefine them in ways that benefit the left, Words evolve. ...

A Variety of Things, Good, Bad, Embarrassing, and Awesome

It is, of course, November 11, and the one hundredth anniversary of the end of the war to end war.  Here in the USA we now call November 11, Veterans' Day, and try to honor the service of all our veterans in our way too many wars and quasi-wars.

President Trump is in Paris for the commemorations and, according to the press, had to sit through some pompous exposition by Macron on the evils of nationalism. Macron might do well to reflect that France would not be in quite the mess it now finds itself as home to thousands of jihadis and other malcontents, if France's ruling elites had shown a little more concern for nationalism. He tried to make "nationalism" sound evil and to make some sort of distinction between it and patriotism. All that rings hollow coming from the "Euroelite" that has caused so much devastation at home and abroad, and which threatens to put a stake into the heart of the Old World. Macron, of course, also has returned to the old subject of an EU army. I have written a great deal, in the Old Diplomad 1.0, about the insanity of an EU army when the Europeans won't even pay for NATO. It's just another fevered dream of the Euroelite. All this drives home the long-standing Diplomad dictum, "Never listen to the Europeans." To listen to them will bring you Libya and other insanities.

Here at home, there can be no longer ANY doubt, if any existed, that the Democrat Party, the world's oldest continuously operating party, is nothing but a power-mad and criminal organization. The party of slavery, Jacksonian genocide, civil war, Jim Crow, the KKK, treason, and lynch mobs, continues its traditions. Once again, we see the vast resources of the Criminal Party marshaled to steal an election or two. Once again, we see the calls for endless recounts, the sudden apparition of "lost" boxes of ballots, the "accidental" destruction of records, and the insistence on non-citizen votes being counted. It is not enough to have the foreign and the dead vote, and living Americans vote more than once. No, we have to keep counting and counting until the sum is the "right" one, i.e., the Criminal Party wins. This has got to stop. As I have noted repeatedly, I have a lot of experience as an election monitor and could never certify our elections as clean and fair. It's a national embarrassment.

On the good news front, I got in a lot of range time this week.

I took my Spanish sister-in-law to the Triangle Shooting Academy in Raleigh, and, after the appropriate safety briefings from the terrific staff there, let her blast away. She went from visibly shaking when I pulled out my S&W MP AR-15 ("I have never seen that type of gun!") to shouting with delight as she put an enormous amount of expensive .223/5.56 ammo downrange. We had to go shooting two days in a row, as she, who had never held, much less fired a gun in her life, noted, "It is addictive!" She also got to shoot my .22 Ruger target pistol, my new Sig P320 9mm, my two S&W MP 2.0 one chambered in .40 and  the other in .45, one of my beloved Colt Government Model 1911s in.45, and two of my revolvers, the S&W .357 mag and "Dirty Harry's gun," the magnificent S&W .44 mag. Her favorites? The AR-15 and the S&W .45--she was actually very good with that one. She bemoaned how in Spain it is virtually impossible for a law abiding citizen to own a handgun, "You have to be a criminal or a terrorist to have one." She carefully wrapped up her targets and had me write on each the date, the make of the gun, the caliber, and the range distance (most of the hand guns at 5 meters, the AR-15 at 20 meters). I got her on video just in case the Guardia Civil needs it. I also spent this morning cleaning the guns, and ordering more ammo. She and the Diplowife are in New York City today and will be watching the Veterans' Day parade.

OK. Off to walk the dogs and reflect on the perfidy of the so-called Democrats.

Thank you veterans!

  1. I don't know what it is about women and guns...especially women who have never fired one or even held one. But once the nerves settle and a bit of confidence comes, well, I have seen similar expressions on the faces of women. Just not with a gun anywhere around. 'Nuff said.

  2. Isn't it wonderful, to take a newbie to the range, and watch their countenance change as they realize what FUN it is!!

Regarding the election fraud, I'm so angry, wathing this happen. My country is being stolen before my eyes.

  3. I forgot to mention, that my son served 2 tours in Afghanistan with the 75th regiment, 1st battalion, as a combat medic.

He got out in Sept. 2012, and has thankfully resumed a fairly normal life. Wife and I have seen a bit of PTSD, but he is healing.

    Couldn't agree more.
I'm encouraged by the fact that the Florida Governor, the Governor elect, and the POTUS are in it to win it! Hopefully too, they'll take the fight from sea to sea, and put a shine back on "These United States"!

    Thank you too, Mr.Diplomad!

  5. I have a sort of different take on the matter of the pleasures of guns:
Never owned one, never particularly interested in them. But I have a fairly new son-in-law, who is ex-mil, likes guns, and goes to his local range regularly.
So, on a couple of recent visits, off we go, with several of his favorites in hand.
And we launch a fair amount of molded metal towards those nefarious paper targets.
"How was it?" sez he on the way home. But I have to admit it really didn't do anything for me -- just a lot of noise, fuss, and a very sore wrist to show for it. Naahh..I'm still not interested.

However(and this is the critical issue): this does not negate my support of the right of ordinary citizens to own and safely use their firearms. The 2nd is a critical piece of American security and freedom. Freedom for everyone individually to choose to own or not to own firearms.

    Good shooting, Dip. Stay safe.

    3. Gotcha. I think exactly the same. I have none but am glad when neighbors do and can readily see that these all-too-frequent mass shootings (even if some of them ARE...FF?) would NOT take place if a person who is armed was among the crowd. Nothing but love and pride for our heritage, esp BOR.

I must have looked slightly bewildered.

"It occurred to us that you're the sort of fellow who'd know how to shoot."

I still don't know what the give-aways were that I knew how to point a rifle.

  8. I can't see a reason for a recount that wouldn't also mandate entirely new elections.
State with mandatory recount laws for close elections are people entire with those who have no competence in math. Votes are data... if you manipulate your data enough, you *will* get the answer you want.
If your data indicates that you are wrong, accept that you are wrong. If you can't, throw the entire thing out and start completely fresh. Otherwise, we introduce probability dependencies that are very complex and in many cases, simply unidentifiable.

    2. I don't know +/- = to or > than 1482, your stats sounded pretty good to me, at least up to the point when you mentioned 'manipulating' your data! These days, the Social Scientists know that's going too far into the weeds -- they tend to stop after the 'tweak' the 'tease' or at least during the 'massage! <3

    3. For abuse of numbers, this video is hilarious because of how obviously they talk past the data-disaster.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BnkI5vqr_0
"Well, our satellite measurements were supposed to show warming... they didn't... so we searched and searched until we found an explanation that would allow us to adjust the data until it showed the warming we expected. It's all legit because the satellite orbit decays, ya know?"
When you take data, and you get the answer you weren't expecting, that's it. You go back and 'adjust' your data, you are no longer performing the gold standard, prospective science.
Put another satellite up, take another 30 years of data, and then tell us what's what... without adjustment..

So... what would've happened if the measurements had shown greater warming than the ambiguous surface record (error bars.. it's always about the error bars)? Then satellite would've been "the better measurement" and we'd have to adjust the surface data set to match the "clearly more correct, because it shows more warming" satellite data.

I mean.. if there was nothing but research funding on the line, this would be great science... it's the best we've got. But there is tons riding on it.

Ok.. apologies for the total distraction from voting shenanigans, but it's really the same fundamental problem, not really knowing math and basic scientific logic.

    4. Oo-la-la! Non apologia nesesaree numero!
My only quibble would be that even if the dumb sh!ts majored in STEM careers, they'd still deny the facts/data if it doesn't support their socio-progresso hypotheosis! Thereby creating at its base a moronic nation just begging its enemies to be put out of its misery -- and, as if on cue, here come the invaders, slithering into the welcoming arms of America's worst!

Sure hope the Boss in Chief has some more electoral miracles up his sleeves, as it appears that we're running out of "Red, White, and Blue" Americans!

    3. The common post-soviet communist excuse for the utter travesty that was socialism and communism is that communism wasn't *really* tried.
Because the only way to *really* put communism to the test, is for the entire world to embrace it.
Gee, what would we call communism attempted at a global scale other than 'globalism'?

The French governing class apparently never learns does it? Hell, the little frogtwerp should really, consider asking Trump for history lessons (especially if he wishes France's white flag manufacturing industry to keep its eminence the centenary celebration hence).

  14. Here in Wisconsin, in the voting between incumbent Governor Walker, and his Democrat challenger, Tony Evers, the race was very tight at midnight. The lead kept switching, a hundred votes here, a hundred votes there. Milwaukee County was The only country that had not physiotherapists in, as they had found " damaged absentee ballots, that would need to be reconstructed ". When the count was up to 99% of thereabouts in, and Walker was ahead by about 1500-200 votes, suddenly, Milwaukee County reported 30,000+ votes for Evers. So, Scott Walker lost to the Democrat Machine in Milwaukee's interesting vote count of "damaged "ballots. None of the media outlets found the 30,000 votes at the last second to be at all questionable.
